Bio

Marie Guagenti is a multidisciplinary artist working in sculpture, painting, and drawing. She currently lives, works, and attends school in Fairfax, Virginia. Her love for art and material exploration began as a child. Her mother began taking art classes during Guagenti's childhood, causing art supplies to enter the home, allowing her to examine various mediums. She began her studies with painting as her focus but quickly changed mediums after discovering sculpture and developing a love for working with steel. Guagenti works with metal and found objects to create abstract geometric works. She often explores gender stereotypes by using materials such as thread with her steel forms. Guagenti is a current BFA student in sculpture at George Mason University's School of Art. Her artwork has been featured in multiple student art shows at the Northern Virginia Community College. Guagenti had her work published in the Fall 2023 issue of Volition. She is currently the director of art at the Ukrainian Cultural Camp.
